Hyung-Suk Kim is a prominent figure in the world of K-POP, widely known for his contributions as a composer and music producer. Born in in South Korea, Kim's influence in the industry is profound, earning him the title of a 'Guru' in the globalization of K-POP. Among the founders of the top four K-POP agencies, two were mentored by him: J.Y. Park of JYP Entertainment and Bang Si-Hyuk of HYBE, home to artists like BTS, TWICE, Stray Kids, and New Jeans. A few months ago, when I finally got my hands on the special edition of Sung Sikyung’s 6th album, I fell in love with a song called Around Thirty – one of three live additions to the CD. Keen to have it on my Cyworld as a background track, I typed in the song title and found another name attached to it. I found I had ‘discovered’ Kim Kwang Seok (김광석), a Korean folk singer. Born in , he originally debuted with Kim Min Gi in and collaborated with DongMulWon (동물원) for two albums before going solo.

아버지 김수영씨는 대구사범대학 출신의 국민학교 교사로 재직하고 있었는데, 년 5월 전국교직원노동조합의 전신이 되는 교원노조를 결성하는데 동참하여 대구지부장과 교원노조 회지의 집필자로 활동하는 등 교원노조를 결성하는데 중요한 역할을 하였습니다.

김광석이 5살이 되던 해에 장충단공원 인근의 서울 중국 장충동으로 이사를 갔고, 년 옆 동네인 종로구 창신등으로 다시 이사하였습니다.

기어코 명지대학교로부터 학사경고를 받게 됐고, 가족들의 반대가 더욱 심해지기 시작하였습니다. 년 1월 6개월 단기 사병으로 군 복무를 했고, 제대 이후 그의 형인 김광복은 김광석의 음악에 대한 열정을 알고 고려대학교 앞에 '고리'라는 카페를 차려주었습니다.
